I got visitors today

Uncle Ted and Aunt C came by today to see how I'm doing and did an eval on my potential to be placed at Uncle R and Aunt J's home.

Well, it's good and bad news. Uncle R and Aunt J said I 'could' be their dream dog for life....but, I have major separation anxiety issues. For the last couple days, I was nice and went to my crate (reluctantly) when they left for work, but yesterday, their neighbor said I howled all day until they got home. I did howl, but I tried very hard not to and I didn't break out of the crate either.

I'm also not eating much either... a typical stressed sign for me. Uncle Ted said I looked OK and acted quite normal and happy, but when he asked Aunt J and Aunt C to walk out the front door, I started to stress and didn't know what to do.

The good news is both Uncle R and Aunt J wanted to work on my issues and will spend this long weekend to recondition me on my separation anxiety problem. Bottomline is that I have to at least not howl all day when they go to work or their neighbor will not like it.

So at this point, Uncle R and Aunt J will foster me for couple weeks and see how I do. Meanwhile, Uncle Ted and Aunt C promised to come by to check on me on a regular basis and monitor my progress. It's hard work, but I love these folks and I'm going to try my best to work with them too. I promise.

Extending my sleep-over

Woohoo... Uncle R and Aunt J told my foster mom that they'd like to keep me with them longer. My foster mom had a very long talk with them and told me that Uncle R and Aunt J are really committed to take care of me and are fully prepared to handle what ever mishaps and stress related issues I may have.

Being in a new environment for couple days now, I'm starting to show stress and uneasy. I don't know why, I really don't miss my foster home, but it's going to take me a while to get use to this new place. Luckily Uncle R and Aunt J really care about me and they can read my doggy talk, so it's not that bad. They said they'll help me go thru this stressful period together.

My foster mom said Uncle T and Aunt C will be coming to see me this week to evaluate my situation. If they also agree, then there's a good chance I'll stay here fur-ever !!

My Weekend Sleep-over

The weekend came and went. I was really good and stayed in the crate Sunday morning when Uncle R and Aunt J went to church. Although I know how to open the latch, I didn't and stayed in there until they came home.

Uncle R is really nice. He seems to understand my doggy talk and gesture. He's been training me on the crate issue all weekend. He'd put goodies in there and I would go in to the crate to get it. Sometimes he'll close the gate, sometimes he'll leave it open. Now I'm not that afraid of the crate anymore.

Aunt J works with 'disadvantaged children' and she said she'll take care of me. Poor Aunt J, she's been typing away on the computer to find out everything about doggy anxiety and stress issues and how to handle them. I think she's in love with me. I hope Uncle R won't get too jealous. LOL

Seamus meets new friends and new ventures

Last week Uncle T and my foster mom took me to the park and met some new friends. Uncle R and Aunt J. Lovely couple. We played a bit at the park and they said they'd like to come visit me again. Of course I said yes. What I didn't know was they meant coming over EVERYDAY for the last week after work and took me out for walks!!! So cool.

This morning my foster mom got me up bright and early, and before I could realize what's happening, here comes my new found friends. They asked if I'd like to spend the weekend with them... A sleep-over?? Heck Ya!! I was so happy I jumped in to their car before any of them and told them to hurry. I can't wait to see their home... new place, new smell, new friends... Great Life!!

Not a good match :-(

Well... after all the excitement, and couple days at my new home, things cooled down a bit and both my 'almost fur-ever' parents and I are parting ways. It's sad and I will miss them, (and they said they will miss me too), but probably best for all of us.

Uncle T said this is probably better for me and he promised to find me another home that will work better for me and my future parents. I know he will....

Meanwhile, this handsome and charming guy is available again..... and happier.

A New Beginning

Today Uncle T and my foster mom took me to my fur-ever home!! I was so excited I couldn't even sit still in the van. When we got there, they were all standing outside waiting for me. Wait a minute, I thought a welcome for a handsome prince (me) gets a red carpet?? But hey, who cares, I love these folks and I was so happy to see them.

After hanging out in front on the smelly grass, hmm, a little doggy lives next door?? We went inside and I got to check out every room, wall, furniture and all the counters. My new little sis gave me lots of hugs, dad played tackle with me, mom hugged and kissed, and they all scratched my belly. Gotta love this new life!!

I want to thank you all for keeping track of me all this time and all your prayers and wishes to find me the best fur-ever home. Uncle T and my foster mom said this new pack is a great match for me and my new dad and mom said I was the dog they were searching for all these years!! Ha...Match made in heaven!!

IT'S CONFIRMED !!!

Uncle T just got an email from my fur-ever parents to confirm next weekend's move to their home!! Woo hooooo!!! Can't wait.... Gotta spend more time with Uncle T and Aunt C and my Humom this week. I feel like a kid going off to college!!

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Finally, my foster mom said we are ready to go meet my potential fur-ever home and family. I was so excited... all cleaned up and looking as handsome as ever.

Got to the park and when they pulled in to the parking lot, I keep telling myself to be on my best behavior. When they got out of the car, woo hoo... there's a little human too... and she knows my name. As soon as that lil' human came up to me, she told me to sit and I promptly sat in my best posture. The adults all laughed and told me how handsome I looked !!

Turned out the big humans were so nice and loved me so much. They all hugged me, and I gave them lots and lots of kisses (I think they liked it !). The man also played rough with me, which I liked since no one does that with me except my doggy friends. The little human turned out to be my future human sis, she even took me for a walk and gave me lots of hugs. Of course, I returned her love with lots of kisses too.

All in all, they liked me and wanted to take me home tonight. But Uncle T and mom said it is best that I go to their home next Friday so they can spend the WHOLE WEEKEND with me. I can't wait !!! Arrruuuu wooooo hooooo.... I think I found my fur-ever home !!!!!!!!!

Meet and Greet tomorrow !!!

Uncle T called and said I'm going to a meet & greet tomorrow to see a loving family. So I asked my mom to give me a rinse down and I promised all my Facebook fans that I will be on my best behavior. Paws and fingers crossed for me...

Wooooo hoo!! Uncle T and Aunt C came over this afternoon and took me to their house for a fun and play session with their furry ones. (Timmy and Tala).

This is the first time I met their fur kids and I must say, they were very happy to see such a handsome young one come visit them. Timmy checked me out first and did a face-off with me for only couple seconds, then decided I'm about his size and will make a good playmate. Tala... I think she's a tom boy... came right up and sniffed my behind, then started jumping around me like a popcorn in the oven...whew, she's a handful and a fast runner too. I tried and tried to catch her but even with Timmy's help, we couldn't corner her. Click here to see me in action!!

By the time the sun started to fade, and after a good belly rub, I had to put on this sheep-skin thing for Uncle T and Aunt C. They said this is for how-woo-ween pictures. I think I looked really stupid, but hey, gotta play along and keep them happy, right?

We are so lucky... after we're all so exhausted and can't run any more, it started raining !! Just in time to go home.

Field Trip Again!!

Usually my Uncle T and Aunt C come by and take me out for an adventure, but they did not come this week. My humom said that it was raining and they are busy with other 'stuff'. I hope they are busy finding me a furever home.

Not all is lost. Tonight my humom took me with her to run some errands. She said that I needed 'exposure'. So we went to a place where she put a hose to the car and were there for a while. I was looking around at the others are doing the same thing. Very strange.

Then we went to a really neat store! There was a lot of food and toys there. Humom put a big bag into the cart and then we went to see a nice lady that gave me lots of cookies! She said I was cute! I gave her some kisses & she gave me more cookies! How sweet is that! Finally humom said we had to go, so off we went.

Next, we went to another place, but I did not get to go in. Humom said I had to stay in the car and that I needed to be quiet. So, I just sat in the car and watched everything and everyone around the parking lot and I didn't make a sound. When my humom came back, she told me that I was real good, so I gave her a bunch of kisses!

I missed seeing Uncle T and Aunt C. Humom said that they would be back again.

Sunny day in the park

What do you do on a nice and cool sunny day? You call up Uncle T and Aunt C to come take you out for a stroll !! Actually, they called me and took me to a local park so I can get use to meeting more dogs... Woo hoo!! It was fun and I got to meet a lot of doggy friends!

One fella even said that I would be a perfect companion for some lucky single lady because I'm gentle enough for her to handle me and I'm big enough to scare off any threats.

My First Meet and Greet

Today Uncle T and Aunt C took me to a real nice family for my first Meet and Greet. I haven't seen them for couple days so I was real happy to go where-ever they take me.

When we got there, I was being such a nice dog and I put up my best manners. I sat there at the front door and allowed these 2 strangers pat me and one even hugged me. They grabbed my paws and checked to make sure they are clean, then allowed me inside.

Wow... all these scents!! Hmmmm.. there're cats in here.. so I sniffed and sniffed around and... ah ha!! I found the cat's bed in the living room......So I wanted to leave my message there for the cat and I did the unthinkable... I marked right in the middle of their living room on their area rug. BOY WERE THEY UPSET. End result, I got marooned to the back yard !!

Actually, that worked out quite well for me. I got to roam around the whole yard and marked where ever I wanted. So at least something good came out of this little outing.

Hiking in the park

Being a sunny day, Uncle T and Aunt C took me to Walnut Creek Park trails for a short hike. This was my first time out on the trails and uncle T said I was very well behaved. I loved to sniff the flowers, bushes and other dog's scent along the trail but never pulled on my leash.

We even got to meet other dogs there and they were all friendly, but I had a hard time with doggy signals and I sniffed this dog, then I put my head on his shoulder, that got him real mad and wanted to bite me... Luckily Uncle T saw what I was doing and pulled me off in time, otherwise I probably would have gotten into a fight and didn't even know why. Uncle T said it's OK because I have to meet more dogs to practice my doggy manners.

Goofy but good

Uncle Ted called me a goof ball today. I wasn't too happy about it, but I have to admit, I'm a little slow to get with the program and I do need to get better at interacting with other dogs. OK, I'm a bit slow in learning new tricks too, but I'm such an innocent boy and I'm not mischievous at all. So does that make me a goofy good boy??

Petsmart !!

Woo hoo!! Went to Petsmart for the first time and it was FUN !! Uncle T said I was very well behaved and sociable with all the dogs and humans I met. Since this was the first time I went to a doggy store, I didn't know what was what and got laughed at when I stuck my nose in the cat litter and bird food!! Oops..

The only bad thing about this trip was that Aunt C had me put on this stupid pumpkin custom. It was really ugly and I hated it. But I was a good sports and even let them take a few pictures and laugh at me.

Seamus gone crusing

Uncle T came by to take me for a car ride cuz my foster mom said I love riding in the car. Well, kind'a embarrassing though because I'm used to getting in my foster mom's minivan where I just have to hop and I'm in, Uncle T's SUV is so tall I stumbled and fell. So... it was a 2 step process; jump on to the floor of the back seats, then jump on to the seat. At least it got the job done!!

Riding in this big SUV was fun... lots of windows and I'm so high up I can see everything. It's like watch TV on a panoramic screen!!

Last night my foster mom told me Uncle T and Aunt C are coming today to take me out. I was so excited I didn't sleep all night!!

When they showed up this afternoon, I heard their car in the driveway so I ran to the door and waited for them. Gave them a BIG surprise when they opened the door and here I am, sitting there with a big grin on my face.

We hung out at the front lawn for a bit, I posed for more pictures, then we went for a long walk to the neighborhood park for some running and loving. (and of course, more beautiful pictures.) Uncle T had me walking on a long leash and a short 'heel' leash. I did so well they even video taped it to show you all. By the time we got home, my foster mom was pulling in to the driveway, so I ran over and greeted her with big kisses, went in the house and went straight to bed in my den. Oh what a dog's life !!

New Photo Shoot Session

Today Uncle T and Auntie C came by my house to take lots of pictures of me!! They gave me lots of treats, made me do all kinds of poses, front, back, face shots, sit, shake, down, roll over tricks and many other shots of me when I wasn't watching.

Click on my picture to see LOTS of pictures of me!!

Must get public exposure

First thing first. I convinced my foster mom to take me to a doggie show, so off we went to the Paws In The Park - Austin event. It was a hot day, but worth it. I met Mr. T and Ms. C, my foster uncle and auntie, they took me for walks around the event so people can see me, introduced me to their daughter, Tala.
Tala is a pretty girl, but I didn't know how to social with other dogs, so I growled at her and she was real mad at me. Uncle T said I have to learn doggie manners and how to be a gentleman.
A lot of people came by to see me at the booth, several girls came by several times and one of them even took me out for a walk. Overall, I think my first PR event was a splashing success. Especially with the girls.. well... at least the human ladies.
Click on my picture to see more of me at the event.

News Release!!! News Flash!!!

It's been 8 months since my last interview with my PR Reps. Since nothing happened during this time, I figured I'd take matters in to my own hands. You see, it was hard to learn how to type on the keyboard, but after months of practice, I've mastered the trick! From now on, I'll be my own boss and I will show the world what a wonderful and loving dog I really am. Really, I am....

#6: Learn to Play

She brought me a toy too that I got to play with. Mr. Rick was a lot of fun and boy was I tired after all that! Ms. D said I can see all my pictures here. Ms. D said she may not be back for awhile so I need to practice on all the six steps she's gone over with me so far. She's going to rewrite my bio and post a new head shot too on the Rescue website. Thanks Ms. D!

Luckily there's lots of sun and shade that's making her mad because it's going to mess up the pictures so maybe we won't take as many today. I know Mr. Rick is hoping that :)

Doing PR Work is Exhausting!

We have to plan events that I can go to and meet more people and take more pictures and be seen. She and Mr. Rick are going to come back next weekend again for more PR work. I better rest up. I got the feeling Ms. D is going to take a gazillion pictures again.

PR Rep Visit (#3 Take Pictures)

P1100372
Originally uploaded by bwitched4you
Ms. D said we had to take lots of pictures for my portfolio so folks would have lots to look at. And she wanted all these different poses. Mr. Rick and I were getting pretty frustrated with Ms. D on this one. I can't pose, I'm a dog? So we tried our best. See my first portfolio here.

PR Reps Visit (#2 Interact)

P1100351

Next on Ms. D's list of to-dos was to interact with others and network. We were able to knock this one out while taking our walk to "be seen" because these folks came out to play with me and gave me lots of tummy rubs and compliments. I'm thinking this new PR thing is working; don't you think?

PR Reps Visit (#1 Be Seen)

P1100329
Originally uploaded by bwitched4you
OK, so I hired new PR reps to find me a forever home. They came up to visit me this past weekend. Their names are Ms. D and Mr. Rick. I think Mr. Rick is more like Ms. D's assistant cuz she did all the talking. Ms. D said we had lots of work to do. We had to start by getting out and being seen so we decided to go for a walk in the neighborhood.

Who Am I?

The song is named after the dog who performed howling 'vocals' on the album version of the track. Pretty cool trivia huh. I thought so.

Ok, so here I am, a dog rescued by Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue. I was abandoned by my owners and a kind neighbor tried to take me in but his dog didn't like me so he had to turn me into a shelter. I live in Austin, Texas with my foster mom Ms. Lynn. I've been in rescue since December 2006. That's over 2 years now. What's up with that? I had to fire my PR firm and hire a new one! They started this blog for me. Hope it helps!
